‘NEW TECHNOLOGICAL COMPONENTS TO ENABLE INTEROPERABILITY AND DATA ANALYSIS IN BIOBANKS’

Call EUROSTARS-2 (International Business-to-Business Action)

Reference Number: E!114111 / CIIP-20202004

This project has received funding from the Eurostars-2 joint programme with co-funding from the CDTI and the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Framework Programme for Research and Innovation.

The SmartBIMS project promotes the development of new products and services to improve the interoperability, exploitation and integration of the information handled by Biobanks. Its main objectives are, on the one hand, to achieve more efficient and profitable Biobanks, and on the other, to position them as a key element in research within personalised medicine.

Within the scope of the project, an automation tool will be developed to encode medical texts in SNOMED-CT, an interface (API) to facilitate the management and exchange of Biobank data, and mobile applications to enable the collection and visualisation of standardised data. All of these will be integrated into a commercial platform called SmartBIMS that will respond to the current needs of the technology market.
